Owners John Lau and Irv Fischer opened Dynamic Tool & Design in 1976. They were two toolmakers who thought they had better ways to build molds.
In the early years, the equipment was used, the man-hours were high and profits were slim. Dynamic’s first building wasn’t a building at all, but a spot on the floor with posts to mark their territory.
Over the years Dynamic grew mainly by word of mouth. People began to recognize the name in the industry and Dynamic started to develop its niche in the close tolerance, high cavity mold field.
Along with more business came a growing need for better, faster machines. Dynamic has made substantial investments in equipment and technology which has allowed growth to continue.
After a few different buildings, Dynamic moved to its current home in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin in 1990. Two additions have since been completed and it is now a 51,000 square foot facility which houses 60 employees and full in-house services including design, programming, wire EDM, polishing, jig grinding, inspection and sampling.
Many new and cutting edge technologies have been implemented in this plant, including the use of robotics in the mold building process. Dynamic was one of the first to use robotics in conjunction with both carbon cutting and EDM.
2010 brought a major change for Dynamic, as the company became an employee owned ESOP company. This was a great way for John & Irv to reward the hard working and dedicated employees of Dynamic as well as ensuring the company’s growth into the future.
In 2013, we completed a 17,000 sq. ft. addition of a new technology center. The technology center houses our 80-650 ton presses and offers space for turnkey projects. We are able to provide in-house sampling and full mold qualification upon request.
In 2014, we conducted a customer survey and asked our customers why they choose Dynamic Tool & Design as a mold builder. Results showed that customers choose Dynamic because of our engineering, design and excellent project management system. Every mold is built to specification and delivered on-time.
A highlight of 2015 was receiving the Leadtime Leader Award – Honorable Mention sponsored by MoldMaking Technology and Progressive Components. We were recognized not only for our excellent leadtime delivery, but also for our commitment to scientific mold qualification and our efforts to create a “Dynamic” company culture. We are very proud of this award and to be recognized among the top mold shops in North America.
In 2016, we added a complete jig grinding department to our facility. By performing all jig grinding internally we are able to better control quality and lead times, as well as adding another level of service to our customers.
Dynamic Tool & Design continues to grow from a strong commitment to technology and a stronger commitment to our customers. We provide innovative mold building with customer support that is unmatched in the industry. Contact us to experience the Dynamic Solution.
